1. The mystery box is a random reward you can't see until you open it

A mystery box is exactly what it sounds like: you don't know what's inside until you open it. It might be a small amount of BTC, ETH, SOL or OKB, or a Rebate Card that refunds part of your futures fees.

① 100% back on your first trade

The headline welcome bonus is the New User Full Rebate Program. Make your first trade above a set size in a single order and you get a bonus package worth 100% of that trade, paid out across 7 days. Trade $500 and $500 in bonuses comes back — up to a cap. (Official OKX guide)

What lands isn't cash. It's three things: a Trading Bonus for derivatives, a Contract Voucher good for one perpetual futures trade, and a Rebate Card that refunds trading fees.

② The conditions people miss

Your first trade has to happen within 29 days of registering. Splitting it across several smaller orders doesn't count, and zero-fee stablecoin pairs (USDC/USDT and the like) and fee-free [Convert] trades are excluded too.

Each of the 7 daily drops has to be claimed manually, and expired ones disappear. You can also only be enrolled in one New User Bonus event at a time.

3. The referral sign-up perk comes down to fee discounts

The referral link only locks in at sign-up. Once you've registered or finished KYC, there's no adding or swapping an invite code.

4. Seasonal deposit and trading events run separately by region

① Deposit Bonus

These pay out a percentage of whatever you deposit during a set window. In 2026, OKX ran campaigns for EEA users several times between June and August, paying up to 8% of net deposits in USDC, while US users got a separate 4-5% deposit match.

The mechanics are much the same everywhere. You have to tap Opt-in before you deposit, and the bonus is calculated on net deposits — deposits minus withdrawals. Payouts are staggered over anywhere from a few months to a full year.

② Flash Earn (new token airdrops)

Airdrops tied to new listings run through Flash Earn. Since the July 2026 upgrade there are two formats.

With Stake to Earn, you lock up BTC, ETH, OKB or similar and collect new tokens as an airdrop. With Trade to Earn, you clear spot or futures trading tasks to claim a share of new tokens or USDT, and your allocation scales with how early you join and how many days you trade.

5. So what's the catch?

① Bonus principal can't be withdrawn

The welcome bonus matches your first trade size, but you can't withdraw the principal on the Trading Bonus, Contract Voucher or Rebate Card. All you can withdraw is profit you make trading with them or fees refunded back to you, and the Trading Bonus and Contract Voucher only work on futures.

② Rewards don't unlock right away

Rewards come with lock-up periods. In Europe, welcome bonuses can be withdrawal-locked for up to 45 days. If a reward arrives as a coin, OKX sometimes freezes a slice of your own balance worth that coin at current prices until the lock-up ends.

③ Deposit bonuses only pay in full if you leave the money there

Since deposit bonuses run on net deposits, withdrawing during the payout window shrinks what's left or stops payments entirely. To collect the full 8%, that balance has to sit in your account for the whole schedule.

Bottom line

Mystery box and welcome bonus eligibility both depend on registering through a designated link, and the referral discount can only go in on the sign-up screen. Most of what you'll ever get out of a new account is decided the moment you create it.
