Plenty of people skip right past the referral code field when signing up for Binance. Figuring it's just another ad, they leave it blank.

But that one field determines the fee discount that gets attached to your account. And once the account exists, you can't add it. On top of that, the terms differ from code to code. Spot discounts are a flat 20% no matter which code you use — that's the ceiling Binance set, so nobody is handing out more than that. Futures discounts, though, range anywhere from 10% to 25% depending on the code, and signup bonuses differ by as much as $800. Grab whichever code you stumble across and you're leaving money behind.

This piece breaks down what actually differs between Binance referral codes, and what to use as your deciding factor.

What discounts does a referral code actually get you?

If you opened a Binance account to trade futures, read this part carefully. Binance base fees are 0.1% on spot for both maker and taker, and on USDT futures, 0.02% maker and 0.05% taker. A referral code shaves a set percentage off those.

Spot caps out at 20%. That's the maximum Binance allows, so if someone claims they'll give you a bigger spot discount, they're talking about something else entirely. Futures is where codes actually diverge, running anywhere from 10% to 25%. If you trade futures primarily, that gap adds up fast.

Separately, some referral codes come with a signup bonus attached. These pay out as vouchers once you hit certain trading volume, and on futures — where leverage is in play — hitting those volume targets isn't especially hard.

And the referral code discount stacks with the BNB fee payment discount. They're separate discounts, so they layer on top of each other.

Let's start with the official campaign you can verify on Binance itself.

Sign up through this link and a 20% trading fee discount applies as standard, plus tiered rewards paid out based on your deposit amount and trading volume. Here's what the volume tiers pay:

TierNet depositVolumeRewardWindow
1$100$3K$1007 days
2$200$10K$2007 days
3$500$30K$4007 days
4$2K$500K$1,00014 days
5$5K$5M$3,00014 days
6$10K$20M$5,00030 days
7$20K$50M$10,00030 days

Clear every tier and it's a bonus package worth up to 19,800 dollars. Tier 7 asks for a $20,000 deposit and $50,000,000 in volume, though, so it's not a bracket any normal retail trader is aiming at.

Tiers 1 through 4 are the ones that realistically matter. Put in $100, trade $3,000, get $100 back — and on futures, volume piles up faster than you'd think. Sometimes within a day. Just be careful not to force volume purely to chase a reward, since the fees can end up costing more than the payout. Trade the way you normally would and take whatever fills naturally.

Also keep in mind these bonuses have a time window. Sign up and then start trading months later, and the task window has already closed.

Comparing what each referral code gets you

Beyond the official campaign, there are codes with different terms. The table below reflects what's compiled on Rewardoc's Binance referral code page. That page re-verifies and updates the terms for each code on a regular basis, so check the latest there before you actually use one. (https://rewardoc.com/exchange/binance/)

Spot discount is 20% across the board. What separates them is the futures rate and the vouchers.

So which one should you pick

Trading mostly futures? FUTURE100. That 25% on futures is the highest figure currently out there, and since futures turns over fast, a 5 percentage point gap in the discount rate compounds into a real number. No bonus attached, though.

Starting with a meaningful chunk of capital? BONUS800 or the official event link is the better call. If you're going to deposit and trade anyway, the tasks fill themselves, and the bonus amount is far more noticeable than the fee discount.

Trading spot in small size? A plain code like WELCOME500 is plenty. No tasks, no conditions, just a clean discount and nothing to keep track of. DISCOUNT6 only gives 10% on futures, so unless you're certain you'll never touch futures, there's no reason to pick it.

If you went with a code that carries a signup bonus and the allocation has already run out, use a fallback. 600DISCOUNT and DISCOUNTFEE6 are backup campaigns with the same terms.

Campaigns change constantly, though. What's compiled here reflects the situation at the time of writing, so before you actually sign up, it's safer to check the Rewardoc page mentioned above and confirm the code is still live.

How to apply one

Two ways. Enter through a signup link with the code embedded and the referrer ID fills in automatically. Or paste the code directly into the [Referral ID] field on the Binance signup screen.

Either way, confirm with your own eyes that the code is sitting in that field before you create the account. Every so often you follow a link and the field comes up empty. The Binance signup guide post covers the details.

Wrapping up

Any code beats signing up without one, since you're at least getting the base fee discount either way. But compare for another minute and you can do noticeably better. Spend that minute before you hit the signup button. You can't add a referral code later.

And for anyone thinking of adding a referral code to another account they own: self-referral violates the terms, and getting caught runs from forfeited rebates all the way to a permanent account ban. I've covered that separately in why you shouldn't self-refer on Binance.
